HOLY COMMUNION is offered each Sunday. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is present in his holy meal. If you believe that Jesus’ body is given for you and that his blood is shed for you, you are welcome to join us at the altar. You may also come forward to be blessed. Hands cupped open indicate an openness to receive communion; hands closed reflect a desire to receive a blessing. White grape juice is available as an alternative to wine.
VISITORS: We want to get to know you! Join us for coffee after the service. Please fill out the visitors’ card in the pew rack. Drop the lower half in the offering plate as your gift today and keep the stained glass portion for your own use.
CHRIST IN OUR HOME/ LIGHT FOR TODAY: The January-February-March 2010 devotional books have arrived. Each day features a reading from scripture (a passage that will be read on the coming Sunday), a brief reflection on the scripture passage, and a prayer. It’s a great way to prepare for Sunday. Make a New Year’s Resolution to spend more time with God’s Word and pick up a free copy in the Narthex.
ANNUAL MEETING – January 31st: We’llbeginwith a potluck meal in the Fellowship Hall after the service. Please bring a dish to share and your own table service. This annual meeting is a legal requirement of not-for-profit corporations. We need at least 50 people to take action. In addition to the usual reports and elections, we will also be considering revisions to the constitution. Copies of the proposed revised constitution are available at the church office. FIFTH SUNDAY SPECIAL: Kenya Project Word has been received that Ephantus Mwangi and Hottensiah Kimori will be with us next Sunday, Jan. 31, to share with us their plans and dreams for setting up a health clinic in Kenya. They will meet with the adult Sunday School class at 9am and then give a temple talk during worship. The couple are registered nurses and December 2008 graduates of Baker University School of Nursing. SAFE STREETS PRESENTS…Postive Action Family Worskshop beginning February 2nd to teach families how positive thoughts, actions, and feelings can make a difference in their homes. This series of classes meets on Tuesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, February 2nd through March 16th, at Topeka Bible Church (1101 SW Mulvane St.). The $25 per family registration fee will be refunded at the completion of the course. Registrations are due January 28th. For more information, call Safe Streets 266-4606.
