HOLY COMMUNION is offered each Sunday. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is present in his holy meal. If you believe that Jesus’ body is given for you and that his blood is shed for you, you are welcome to join us at the altar. You may also come forward to be blessed. Hands cupped open indicate an openness to receive communion; hands closed reflect a desire to receive a blessing. White grape juice is available as an alternative to wine.

VISITORS: We want to get to know you! Join us for coffee after the service. Please fill out the visitors’ card in the pew rack. Drop the lower half in the offering plate as your gift today and keep the stained glass portion for your own use.

THANK YOU to Special Guest Rev. Leonard Dale of the Central States Synod. Pastor Dale will preach during the worship service today and lead a discussion about our work in the Partnership for Missional Church process over lunch after the service. We will also conclude our conversation about the Eight Missional Patterns/the colors of our plaid. The youth will provide a chili feed as a fundraiser.

ON SATURDAY, MARCH 20, 7 pm the Grand View University Choir, Des Moines, IA, will present a concert for us and the community at Trinity Lutheran. This is a great opportunity to be a welcoming congregation and showcase our beautiful sanctuary. Since we are hosting this choir we are asked to provide housing for many of the 32 choir students. If you can keep two students on Saturday night, provide Sunday breakfast and return them to Trinity at 9-9:30 am on Sunday please call Walt or Helen Laughlin by March 8th (266-9357) or write your name on the sheet on the bulletin board near the guest book.

The Choir will also provide special music for the 10:30 am Sunday service March 21st. Don’t miss these special events! The Choir will be served a meal at 5:30 pm on Saturday. Lutheran Fine Arts will provide the main dish and help in other ways. We are asked to bring a salad or dessert. Call the Laughlins to help do this.

PERPETUA AND FELICITY AND COMPANIONS MARTYRS AT CARTHAGE, (d.202) In the year 202 the emperor Septimius Severus forbade conversions to Christianity. Perpetua, a noblewoman, Felicity, a slave, and other companions were all catechumens at Carthage in North Africa. They were imprisoned and sentenced to death. Perpetua’s father, who was not a Christina, visited her in prison and begged her to lay aside her Christina convictions in order to spare her life and spare the family from scorn. Perpetua responded and told her father, “We know that we are not placed in our own power but in that of God.” During the weeks of Lent, congregations that do not have catechumens can pray for those who do as they approach their own death and rebirth in the waters of baptism at the Easter Vigil, and are clothed with the new life of Christ.

WHO IS THIS KING? Royal Servant...Rejected Friend...Risen Christ!
Join the choir in their Lenten journey of songs depicting the final days of Jesus' earthly life.  Beginning today and continuing through Sundays in Lent and Holy Week services, the choir will present Who Is This King, a cantata by Lloyd Larson and Joseph M. Martin.

CHANGE IN OFFICE HOURS: As a result of the 2010 Budget approved at the annual meeting, Jen Shelley, our secretary, will be in the office Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

CHANGE OF DATE FOR BABY SHOWER: The congregation is invited to a baby shower for Andy & LaVell Winsor on Sunday, March 21st at 12:00 pm in the church basement. A light lunch will be served. Please RSVP to Laurie Jackson, 271-8663, Pam Kobbeman, 379-9480, or Marilyn Hypse, 272-0525. LaVell is registered at Target and Babies R Us.

IF PASTORAL CARE IS NEEDED: Please contact the church office during regular office hours (Tues.-Fri., 9-1). After hours, please contact Council President, Curt Lewis at 785-286-2728.

If you would like to help the kids with this project, pick up a bottle that they have decorated and save your loose change (and bills too) from now until Easter. We'll see how many animals we can purchase!

ANNOUNCING SUMMER DAY CAMP 2010 for youth currently in grades 1 through 6 for the members and friends of Topeka ELCA congregations. Day Camp will again be staffed by the enthusiastic young adults from Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries. This year’s theme is “A New Creation” from 2 Corinthians 5:1, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come!” Mark your calendars now – the dates are July 12-16. Invite your friends, neighbors, and grandchildren.    The same week there will also be half-day VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL for children age 3 through Kindergarten.  Teens and adults are needed to lead VBS and support the Day Camp staff. Call Kris Luber at 272-5302 to volunteer or if you have any questions.
